Who are we?
Hambrook Lodge meets at Park Road, Stapleton, which is in the Province of Gloucestershire. It was formed in 1979; primarily by existing Freemasons who were members of Hambrook Cricket Club and no strangers to the four local pubs which then existed in the hamlet; [White Horse, Black Horse, Crown and Star]. Indeed, our banner has representations of those pubs, captured in the shape of a cricket ball.
What we do
Whilst our ceremony is formal, the supper [Festive Board] which follows, is a lively event, with an emphasis on fun. This is usually ‘themed’: January celebrating Robbie Burns, February St David’s Day, March St Patrick’s Day, April St George’s Day, September the Battle of Britain, and October the Battle of Trafalgar. November is the installation of a new Master. Social events involve family and friends, and often provide an opportunity for potential members to decide if they would like to join us.
Held at the Masonic Hall, Stapleton, on the 4th Tuesday in the months of September, November, February, and April and the 3rd Tuesday in October, January, and March.
Why join us?
Our ‘Ideal Candidate’ should have a sense of humour and know how to enjoy life. A good man will find his association with Freemasonry will inevitably make him a better man. Similarly, the lodge will often identify and expand on a hidden talent. We welcome new members at any adult age who can commit to a regular attendance at lodge meetings and wish to contribute to the life and work of the lodge itself. To join Hambrook Lodge, you only need to ask.
Warrant granted 12 September 1979.
Consecrated 17 November 1979.
Installation meeting November 4th Tuesday.
